Corporate yachting in Athens.

Athens means Alimos Marina, the largest charter hub in the Eastern Mediterranean with more than 1,060 berths. That is a scale of infrastructure no other location in our portfolio matches: a flotilla of 25 yachts berthed at once with no logistical compromise, direct access to the sheltered Saronic Gulf, and ATH airport 40 minutes away with direct flights from 80-plus cities worldwide.

The Saronic Gulf has a property rare for Greece — it is geographically sheltered from the summer Meltemi wind, which reaches Force 7 to 8 in the Cyclades. That makes Athens the most reliable base in the Aegean for summer regattas and team building: an average wind of 8 to 14 knots, a predictable daily breeze cycle, warm water of 22 to 26 °C from June to September.

The classic five-day route covers the Saronic: Hydra (no cars, transport by donkey), Spetses (a historic sailing island with its own Spetses Classic Week regatta), Poros, and a final approach to Cape Sounion with its 5th-century-BC Temple of Poseidon on a clifftop above the sea — one of the most dramatic photographic assets in the Mediterranean.

What makes it different

Why Athens

Three facts our routes are built on. Every data point is verified and drawn from our validated destinations dataset.

  • 01

Alimos Marina is one of the largest charter hubs in the Eastern Mediterranean with more than 1,000 berths, guaranteeing availability for large flotillas.

  • 02

The Saronic Gulf is largely sheltered from the strong summer Meltemi wind, giving more reliable sailing conditions than the Cyclades in July and August.

  • 03

The classic route includes an approach to Cape Sounion to see the 5th-century-BC Temple of Poseidon at sunset from the sea.

Client event

Alimos Marina is not just infrastructure. It is the sailing quarter of Athens with its own restaurants, regatta offices, a sail loft and repair yards. For VVIP programmes we use the "Alimos Premium" package: a dedicated private-access pier, a dedicated stewardess to coordinate transfers, and the private Captain's Lounge wine bar for pre-sail briefings.

Gastronomy in Athens combines traditional dockside tavernas (Trata, Akrogiali — €40 to €60 per person) with Michelin kitchens in the city (Spondi, Hytra, CTC). For corporate groups we arrange a private hire of the Yacht Club of Greece tavern, a historic club founded in 1933, with lunch for 80 in a room overlooking the regatta fleet — a rare venue unavailable without local connections.

From the field

What clients say.

Three quotes from closed corporate programmes over the last two seasons. Names and companies withheld under NDA.

Athens gave us the ideal base for a regatta of 18 yachts. Alimos is the only marina in our European search where a flotilla that size does not turn logistics into chaos.

FAQ

What buyers ask us most.

Eight questions we receive every week from HR directors and CEOs. Not finding yours? Drop us a line — we reply within 24 hours.

What is the maximum fleet size from Athens?
Up to 25 yachts at once — the infrastructure limit of Alimos Marina for a corporate regatta. The marina technically has 1,060 berths, but for a coordinated start 25 is the comfortable maximum. Programmes of 30-plus yachts are split between Alimos and Marina Zeas (15 minutes north).
What do you do about the Meltemi in the Cyclades?
If a programme must include the Cycladic islands (Mykonos, Paros), we re-route it around the Saronic with a single day trip into the Cyclades. In July and August the Meltemi can limit daily sailing to four hours, which is incompatible with a corporate schedule.
How much does a programme from Athens cost?
From €400 per person per night. It is the best value-to-quality ratio in Greece thanks to the Alimos Marina infrastructure. It includes the yacht, skipper, marina fees, basic catering and insurance. Large regattas add a €50 to €100 registration fee per participant.
Which historic locations can we visit?
From the sea: the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion (5th century BC), the Profitis Ilias monastery on Hydra (16th century), Spetses Classic Week (a historic sailing regatta), and the ancient theatre at Epidaurus (an hour from the anchorage on Poros).
What is the language of service?
English at level 4 of 5 with skippers, marina officers and destination management companies; Greek is native. Russian-speaking support is arranged on request — we have one dedicated partner in Athens and three in Piraeus.
